First Motorized Mail Carrier |
Irl Lowry was the
son of George W. Lowry and Armilda Lewis Lowry and was born
in 1890. He took the postal exam at age 17 and received
the highest grade at that time. He bought a Ford Model
T to deliver the mail. It was the 1st mail delivery by
motorized vehicle. I do not know the date he bought the
car but did have it when he married in 1914. He later
transferred to working as a mail clerk for the railroad. |
