Descendant of Valentine WAMPLER and Roderick R. WAMPLER, early settlers in PARKER COUNTY. Have just obtained confederate pension application #10369 from Sarah Ann WAMPLER, widow of Roderick R. WAMPLER who died after submitting his own application (#8883). R.R. Wampler served in Capt. Newton Whitis' Company, McCord's Regiment Texas Cavalry for three years. Sarah Wampler's application states she and R. R. Wampler married in Parker County in Sept. 1854. I would like to know Sarah Wampler's maiden name. Regrettably it was not provided in her application. ROBERTS posted by Lorene Y. Gentry on Thursday, June 10, 2004

I remember reading somewhere that Milam County was part of PARKER COUNTY when Parker Co. was formed. Where can I find a map that shows what part it was? My Roberts Family was in Milam Co. in 1850 and in Parker Co. in 1860. I suspect they didn't move. Thanks

There was a section of the SW corner Parker County in Milam county at the time of the 1840 and 1850 census.

JENKINS posted by Frederick Nolan on Sunday, June 20, 2004

I am seeking information on a Jenkins family, consisting (at least) of father Jonathan, mother Mahala, and three sons, William Alonzo, Charles H. and Jesse Reagan Jenkins.According to the book A HISTORY OF TEXAS AND TEXANS they moved from Dallas County to Parker in 1854, returning to Dallas County in 1861. I have checked your census records but found no appropriate family. The reason for my inquiry is that I am completing a book, commissioned by Texas Tech U Press, Lubbock, in which Charles and Jesse Reagan Jenkins figure prominently and would like to document their family background.
