JOHNSON, SCOGGIN, SCOGGINS, SCROGGINS posted by Gary Todd on Friday, September 3, 2004

Searching for information on the family of WHIT SCOGGINS (b. TN) & ELETHA JOHNSON (b. MO) who were documented on the census of Parker County in 1880. Sometimes, "Scoggins" is spelled "Scoggin" or "Scroggins." Some of the documentation on WHIT SCOGGINS used the name "Whitholm." If you have information on this family, please contact me.

BUGSCUFFLE posted by RHCartwright on Sunday, September 26, 2004

Twice, on the way from Wichita Falls to Fort Worth, I've passed signs referring to "BUGSCUFFLE". I remember this place from my early youth (1940's) when my family would journey from Fort Worth to Altus, Oklahoma. WHERE, EXACTLY, IS IT ON THE MAP? RHCartwright

The Handbook of Texas lists towns named Bugscuffle in Bandero, Llano, and Wilbarger Counties. http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/ Bug Tussle is listed as being in Fannin County on the town and cities page of the TXGenWeb Project.

MORRIS, STAGGS posted by Jessie Hutt on Wednesday, November 10, 2004

Can anyone tell me how I might find "The Memoirs of Este MORRIS"? Este STAGGS, daughter of Jeremiah STAGGS, married a Charlie MORRIS. The writings are about the STAGGS family moving from Vigo, Indiana to Parker County, Texas. I found them in the Parker County census in I think 1930. Jerimiah M. STAGGS married Ollie Cleo BESS and they were my husband's grandparents. Jeremiah STAGGS, son of John Riley STAGGS and Mary Lavona MCKINNEY, was born 1891 in Weatherford (formerly Parker County), Texas. Thank you. Jessie Hutt gmaphone@nothnbut.net Please put "Staggs family" in subject

ADAMS, SMITH, TINNIN, WOLF posted by Dorothy Boynton on Sunday, December 5, 2004

Trying to locate any vital information for a James M. Wolf who at 18 years of age volunteered in Parker County on 3 May 1862 to serve in the CSA. His entire service was with Company A of 21st Regiment of Texas Volunteer Infantcy under Co. William H. Griffins Batallion. I know this young man at this point in his life was probably on his own as we do NOT know of any other family member in Parker County at that time. James M. Wolf was born in Izard Co., AR 2 May 1844. His father died either shortly before or shortly after his birth. He is shown in the household of his mother (Ann Jane McFelch Wolf Adams)and her second husband,Richard Ervin Adams on the 1850 AR census. I have never been able to find him for an 1860 census in either AR or TX. He married Mildred Elizabeth Unknown listed on census as born in AR. They are found on the 1870 AR census with a two year old daughter, Martha A. born in TX. So perhaps he married about 1867 in TX before returning to his roots in AR. He left Mountain Home, AR in 1877 for Texas and is found in San Marcus and then Austin where he died and is buried in 1911. He did have relatives in Bell (John Quincy Adams family)and McLennan counties after 1869 (Asa Tinnin family) but as far as can be determined no family members were here before the war. All other family members served the CSA from AR units. Some times the name was spelled with an "e" on the end. If you have any clues for me to research, I would appreciate it. This man would be the grandson of Major Jacob Wolf of Norfork, AR, who was prominent in AR history. dbton@yahoo.com

HAMILTON posted by Bill Green on Monday, December 6, 2004

My great-great-great-grandfather was John J. Hamilton (1805-c. 1900). He was the minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Weatherford during the late 1850s-early 1860s. His wife was Susanna. Two of their sons were killed by the Indians south of Weatherford in 1863. There were two others sons: Isaac and John Wesley. Isaac Hamilton (1841-1901) was my great-great- grandfather. He died in Floyd County and is buried at Lockney, Texas by his father John J. Hamilton. I would like to locate other descendants.
